View Full Version : The ineffective Assault Weapons Ban

In September, when the Assault Weapon ban goes away, a surprising change will be seen -- nothing -- nothing at all.

Sounds, odd, huh? But it is true.

The bill *never* banned AK's, AR's, UZI's, or any other guns. They have been for sale for the last 10 years, and some ( AR15s esp) have sold more since the ban.

The ban actually mentions 'features', mostly cosmetics, that are banned.

So the ban said that AK's cannot be sold if they have bayonet lugs, or threaded barrels -- so the lugs are cut off, and the threads welded over, and the gun is legally sold.

And that is the whole difference between the deadly 'preban', and neutered post-ban rifles, a difference that matters only to collectors....

On September 14th, rifles can again have bayonets, and adjustable stocks. Can someone explain to me why this is so big a deal? Arianna (Does she read these messages?)
