John Kerry admits making mistakes (something Bush can’t do). Kerry makes a public statement reversing his support of the war in Iraq. He details the events leading to his initial support. This may appear to be flip-flopping, but there is nothing more admirable that admitting you’re wrong and taking responsibility. As Mary Pickford said, “If you have made mistakes, even serious ones, there is always another chance for you. What we call failure is not the falling down, but the staying down.” John Kerry has just stood up! He has stood up for Taking Back Our Country.

John Kerry tells the American people the truth. Kerry shows that he believes Americans have the intelligence and fortitude, the depth of character, and wisdom to handle the truth. Kerry details the cost of war in lives. He reports American causalities – those killed, suicide statistics, and the wounded. He details the Iraqi causalities - civilian and military. Kerry tells them the cost to our International reputation and the cost in dollars. He talks about the deficit and the need to raise taxes. Many politicians can’t seem to grasp the fact that Americans can add and subtract. In order to benefit from our many freedoms, opportunities and advantages, we need to pay for them. Taxes support our way of life. Nothing is free. Paying taxes is American! The best way to reach all Americans is to talk to them from a position of equality, rather than as an elitist with supreme knowledge. John Kerry truthfully talks about issues, issues that he has previously described in “political-ese”, and he wins the support of Americans – Americans who are looking for a candidate who believes in them.

Kerry’s campaign message is simple – “Tell the Truth”

So while I don't support war. I know that there are certain things that will happen if you don't stand up for yourself. People and other countries tend to walk over the person or the country. Look at Hitler and Chamberlain. Peace in our time! Hitler did what he wanted. I just don't support any American loosing their life for walking down the street or going to work. This is anti-American to have a place that supports people that want to kill you because they don't belong to the same religion.

Taxes help support our government and the infrastructure for our cities, businesses and parts of our lives. However I don't want to be overly punished for making money either. Have you looked at the death tax and seen what it does to farm families? They have to sell the farm to pay taxes on property that is already owned. Very sad deal. One day you farm land the next day you are homeless.

Government is supposed to be for the people not for the ability to tax and punish people. If the objective is to punish the rich then don't buy their movies or their products. Vote with your pocket book. JFK ran on a platform to decrease taxes. The Republicans wanted to raise the taxes. If I have extra money I can buy more things or hire people to help me do things at my home. The people that help me have work. I support the economy which employs other people and puts bread on their table.

I might be in favor of raising taxes if we could be shown where the extra money goes and not down some politicians pet project. Where extra money goes power goes in the same direction. Right now I am not so sure that I want more power or money to go to the Congress right now. After all what did the state's do with the Tobacco money? They spent it. Wouldn't have been better to invest the money and use the interest for public funds? Use the extra money to help fight disease or help cities develop better water or air. But no we had to spend it and the money is gone. Why should we increase taxes to replace this extra money? Use some of Saddam's money.

Go after France for supporting Iraq for so long. Sell their stuff. They are part of the reason we got into Indochina in the first place. Let's also ask for more payments on the WWII debts that other countries owe us. Put France and Germany right there on the pay line with checkbook handy. That I would love to see.

Just my thoughts, please comment if you like.

John Kerry admits making mistakes (something Bush can’t do).

I know of no US President including Nixon that ever mentioned that a war was a mistake. As the Commander in Chief the President can't admit to mistakes. Think what that would do to the troops. Even Clinton did not admit to mistakes either.

[quote]Kerry makes a public statement reversing his support of the war in Iraq. He details the events leading to his initial support. This may appear to be flip-flopping, but there is nothing more admirable that admitting you’re wrong and taking responsibility.

So is he responsible for many US soldiers having to purchase their own body armour after he decided to change his vote? What about supplying the troops with the things that they need. Kerry has voted against many weapon programs. His view in my opinion is it is better to save money, than to save lifes by using better technology.

John Kerry tells the American people the truth. Kerry shows that he believes Americans have the intelligence and fortitude, the depth of character, and wisdom to handle the truth.

I have seen him change his story according to who he is talking to. I didn't see this with Howard Dean. I didn't see Howard have a press conference to show off his plane.

Kerry details the cost of war in lives. He reports American causalities – those killed, suicide statistics, and the wounded. He details the Iraqi causalities - civilian and military. Kerry tells them the cost to our International reputation and the cost in dollars.

War is not pretty. Nor like other leaders have mentioned it is well that war is so horrible that we don't go into it half hearted. I believe that this war is going to change the world. Our fathers/grandfathers that were in WWII changed the world for their generation. This generation is changing the world for a backward part of the world. Women are treated badly, the few rule the many. I believe that Sadaam was as bad as Hitler. He killed many of his own people and did many bad things. Not to mention what his sons did to women and other citizens. I think also that by having the terrorists fight us in Iraq, it is safer in the US. I believe that any President Democrat or Republican would have done what Bush did. It was time to stand tall and lead. If you can't kill all the terrorists, why not change their world? Don't forget they are willing to change ours - look at Spain.

Paying taxes that go to Congressional pork projects does nothing to ease the deficit. How can I be sure that MY MONEY that I EARNED is going to be used in the way that I believe it should be used? Once money goes into Washington it comes out in pennies. Are you sure that you are not reallocating income? I believe in the flat tax. I understand that nothing is free - my point is that I am not sure that the deficit is the end game for the Washington crowd. The states want to raise taxes to increase funds that they gained with the Tobacco lawsuits. Why should I pay? They spent the money! Yes I do pay my taxes. My main thing is that there is so much waste. I also believe that Congress should not automatically vote themselves a raise either. I want them to go on the record for voting for the raise then I will do my best to VOTE THEM OUT!

The best way to reach all Americans is to talk to them from a position of equality, rather than as an elitist with supreme knowledge.

I agree. Many people in Washington don't do this. They have their head in the clouds and their feet don't get wet either.
