The non-voters turn out to be the biggest Party - 37% of the electorate.
This is the highest ever abstention vote in Israeli elections.
It indicates a general disillusionment in ALL parties
including the Arab Parties.
The Likud fell from 38 MKs to 11 !!!
Labour rose from 19 MKs to 21
The big surprise are the Pensioners who never had a Party before.
They won 8 MKs. They are former Labor people who wanted
Labor to care more for the pensioners and left to form their own list..
On political issues they will vote with Labor.
The largest Party, "Kadimah" ("Forward") has around 30 MKs
and is a centre-right party advocating unilateral withdrawl from the
occupied West-Bank. Why unilateral ? To avoid negotiations with the Palestinians in order to minimize concessions.
They will hand back only what they want, not what the Palestinians demand.
This will not get them a Peace agreement, but they don't mind. Today most Israelis are not afraid of the Palestinians who now live in areas surrounded by fences and walls controlled by Israel.
Israelis prefer to hold on to certain parts of the West-Bank with no Peace rather
than hand them back as the price of Peace..
On the whole the elections indicate Israeli "Battle Fatigue".
Most Israelis no longer believe in Peace with the Palestinians but want a "cease-fire" without Peace.
