How do we keep the movement alive? Arianna's article suggests that we court the non voters as opposed to the swing voters.
Perhaps we need to start a cyberwide adopt a Deanatic program?????

Probably a good idea, as I am so disgusted with the Democratic party, that I might just vote for Nader on principle. I guess I don't belong to the ABB club. I hate Bush being in office, but do not want to support another fucking whore to the special interests (like Kerry).
I am so pissed that Dean got railed the way he did, and the Democratic party let it happen. Fuck them! They are no better than the Republicans when it comes to getting us away from being a corporatist nation (one step below fascism).
I don't care if it means that the democrats might not win the White House. The 2 party system is old and non-representative of the country as a whole. If no one votes Green, then the Green party will never get off the ground.
I might just be forsaking the Democratic party for good this year. I'm tired of their bullshit. This doesn't mean I'll support the GOP. HELL NO!!!! But I might just start throwing in my Green party votes in every election. I feel that it is the only way to get our Government away from the non-representative influence of corporations, religious zealots and other special interest groups.
The Democrat and Republican parties are both filled with greedy whores. Fuck 'em both, alike. I am tired of being deceived.

Have you thought about the effect that your Green vote might have on the hundreds of millons of people around the world hurt by the Bush administration's policies? I am as disgusted by special-interest pandering as you, but I honestly believe that there is a moral imperative to remove Bush from the White House. Then we can start demanding more from a Democratic leader and, if he fails, we can work to replace him with someone better (potentially from a third party).

Maybe so, Art, and that is why I am teetering right now. GW is by far the worst President in our history and I do want to get rid of him, but C'mon..... John Kerry?
How can I have any faith in the Democratic party, ever again?
You know, I will probably vote Democrat just to get rid of GW shithead, but it just might be the last time. There's only one democrat I vote for in whom I have faith, and that's Congressman Henry Waxman. Even our "democrat" Senators, Feinstein and Boxer are a joke. Well, Boxer's heart is in the right place, but she is a ninny. Feinstein is about the most conservative California democrat I can think of and I think her voting record is too centrist and conforming to the GOP.
The new mantra of the Democrat party seems to be "play ball with the GOP if you want anything done", and the GOP eats it up and smacks around the dems who "play ball" like they are little bitches. Fortunately, there are guys like Waxman in the house who never go for the GOP's bullshit.
The Democratic party is a fucking joke. There is a 95% chance I will vote for Kerry, because he is indeed a "lesser evil" than Bush, but it is probably one of the last democratic votes I will cast, with Waxman as the exception.
The Green Party needs to come of age as the new, truly liberal party. I will be volunteering my time to this end from this day forward. GOPs or Dems, they are both fucked.

I agree with you whole heartedly!!!!! I thinks its repulsive that the Dems have sold out to the corporate interests and abandoned their principles. I think Kerry will be Clinton part II but in a way that would be way better than Bush part II. Either way both presidents are professional liars and thievs. I for one am sick and tired of endorsing this behavior with my vote. That leaves me with a very confusing choice between aiding the ABB agenda or voting with my heart for Nader.
I think Nader is a much better candidate than anyone we've seen in the last 20 years. Given that he's 70 I dont think that he has another run left in him. On the other hand I think he would have been better of sitting this one out and gearing up for 08 where I think he would have a much better shot. I dont see a guy like Kerry getting more than 4 years in the white house and by then I think Americans will all be fed enmass with the soft money loophole. In other words, by then we will all be on the same page liberals and consevatives alike!!!!
All this reminds me of what a shame it is how Bush has screwed this country. Just think of the Scale of the matter. Being forced to vote for Kerrry to rid us of Bush is another stolen election by the GOP. Omly this time they are masquerading as Democrats!!!

Well, Islander... Nader is a great guy. Responsible for saving Americans countless ills in the work he's done to protect consumers and keeping things from getting out of hand. I would certainly love to vote for him, but I can't stop thinking about Art's idea of "the moral imperitive to remove Bush from office". It is just so true. I fluctuate all the time on this, but ABB, a.k.a., Clinton II is definitely better than Bush II.
Do you think that with Kerry as President, we can reforge our alliances and get back into some of the International agreements Clinton got us into that Bush selfishly pulled us out of when they were in the national best interest? Do you think the guy will be able to pull us out of the International mess Bush has gotten us into? Does anyone else have any input on this?

I think he will repair our relations with foreign countries but these are all just symptoms of a larger problem. The major problem that needs to be fixed is the soft money loophole that has allowed corporations to bribe oue elected officials. Even if he does repair them things will not go back to the way they were because these nations will remain skeptical. They don't trust our elected officials anymore than we do anymore. Maybe even less!!!
They know that there are major flaws that still exist in our system and thats what really needs to change. Any treaty that we sign regarding any issue will remain suspect until then. We need to get corporate money out of Washington and make it a criminal offense for any official that accepts money from these donors. These guys are supposed to represent our voices, not just a small sector of the population.
I know this sounds crazy, but sometimes I wonder if the rest of the world will get fed up someday and decide to "liberate" us from our oppresive regime. I wouldnt rule out the possibility!!!!!!!!!!

Rasmon, Dean is continuing with the Dean for America campaign even if he's not running for President this election. Check the DeanforAmerica.com website. This blog message was posted Sunday, February 29th:
"We intend to form a progressive grassroots organization based on the Dean for America campaign, and we will work with other organizations after we get set up. We will announce the set up on March 18.
In the meantime, my deepest thanks to all of you who worked so hard to change America. We are not giving up, and we have an outline about what we intend to do on the DFA website.
Many thanks,
Howard Dean"
If you were part of a MeetUp group, check with them about the continuation. For this election the choice may be Kerry (or hopefully following tomorrow, Edwards) but in 2008 it may be Dean or a candidate this movement has supported and developed. And as long as the grassroot movement remains active for the interim 4 years, pressure for change will be brought to bear on DC and the Whitehouse.
I too would like to see more party diversification in the US. It may evolve that the Deaniac supported candidates will be independents in many areas. But for now I urge you to stay plugged into the Dean campaign which has from the beginning promoted the idea of changing the Congress along with the Presidency.

Primarily I got involved in politics for the first time because of Howard Dean.
I do not like to belong in any party. But over the years I have mostly voted for Republican candidates.
I voted for Bush I and in 2000 for Bush II.
However, a great awakening has come to me... looking back on Republican past history over the past 34 years that I've lived in the U.S.
By character I am fiercely independent and go by issues and not by affiliation. I have even given up my membership into organized religion- born into an Evangelical Protestant family - to spirituality.
Howard Dean accomplished a lot by speaking his mind with conviction. He represented the anger I felt against Bush and his policies(?) and deeds.
For the first time in my life I took to the streets and participated in mass demonstrations for peace and not war. And yet I am not a pacifist.
First thing first...
Given the situation, we must first get rid of GWB...
I too do not like John Kerry.
He imitated Dean only after seeing that it was attracting more attention than his gutless campaign. Kerry belongs to the same Skull and Bones exclusive club of rich white men that GWB belongs.
These rich men never think how the masses think and feel in their lives of making the ends meet and providing for their families and offsprings.
Howard Dean started a revolution using the internet via the Meetup software getting those who thought alike and wanted to be involved in bringing about change in our system. Big corporations ans narrow self interest groups have taken over America... and now the same groups want to become global powers spreading their influence around the world without accountability and responsibility just for increased profits through exploitation of cheap labor and lax environmental and civil laws in many countries.
This is an important time in history. High tech and the information age has made it imperative that the majority gets organized to stop being taken advantage by the rich and the powerful minority in the world. This should be accomplished without the minority dividing the masses along religious, national, and racial lines, etc. artifical and superficial lines.
Access to information, education and knowledge is important in the process of empowering the masses to increase their awareness to stop the common exploitation of large masses of humanity to keep a small minority in excessive riches and opulence as it has been the practice for centuries and milleniums.
I am still attending the Meetups to see how the Dean movement will be kept going. And it must be kept alive especially for the likes of John Kerry who will be loyal to his group 'club' of people. He said he has listened to many people and is learning a lot. He may say that conveniently during his campaign to get the vote.
There is a drive in the Democratic party to get the Deaniacs into the Democratic party. I will never want to become neither a Democrat or a Republican. I'm too much of an independent thinking person and regard just belonging in a party as limiting my own free thinking.
The world's most serious problems are now in the realm of those who can be enslaved mentally. Thus zealots are formed both by organized religions, now outdated, and also by political ideology. Mental slavery is more subtle and hideous than physical slavery. And, its effects can be much worse through mind control.
The tools for increased connectivity are now within our grasp through widespread speedy communication means and the internet.
Allowing class exploitation as GWB has subtly easily accomplished within few years besides causing the anger and outrage of billions of world population must never be allowed by any leader on this planet that is full with wmds. No nation should be allowed to adopt pre-emptive strike doctrine for the safety of all... on a planet that's fragile considering the powerful wmds that can threaten us all.
It appears to me that powerful nations and tyrants must be balanced by a close network of the masses that can prevent such dangerous concentration of arrogant power hungry humans whether they're called Saddam Hussein or George W. Bush.
