If the moderators are going to actively intervene by changing content, I want them to do it publicly, so that their actions can be judged by the board's contributors.

I don't care if a poster apologizes to another poster publicly or privately or not at all. I don't care if a moderator publicly or privately suggests that a poster take a different tack. I do care if a moderator privately demands a change.

I prefer no rules; if there have to be rules, enforcement should be done in the full light of day.

I guess I could live with that except I'm not sure how you define "threats." Most of what I see on that score is just silly posturing and not worth intervention. The standard is something like, "If I see you on the street you little blah blah blah I'm going to blah blah blah you blah blah blah. Or simply wishing some horrible outcome to their poster opponent. Does that nonsense really require deletion? Who are you protecting? You'll notice the same folks seem to enjoy getting in the same ridiculous food fights with each other. When I locked the thread about Frtiz it was because I thought it had reached the point of a brawl and no good would come of its continuing.

I sincerely regret not informing you at least by leaving a message in the thread and better, to have PMs as well.

As for the subject matter, you have rightly pointed out, and I appreciate it because I had missed it, a couple of gut-wrenching statements from Fritz that cross any line of decency or acceptability. I have dealt with those statements privately, and I hope effectively. Continuing to post such sentiments is intolerable.

I can tell you without revealing a confidence that Fritz would like to de-escalate things. One of the things I like about you is that you have passion and in most ways, but not all, I share your anger and outrage at today's politics. One problem with having low or zero tolerance for shit from the right, however, is that when it is answered with equal shit from the left, then the waters are instantly muddied and you have a who started it argument - always a loser. So if you could respond to Fritz in a way that nails him when he is wrong or out of line but does not use language that he or someone else could chracterize as just about as bad, it would help.

Esbe, I thought and think that posting that stuff from some other forum truly stinks. I know I did not respond to that in a way that was acceptable to you. However, I am extremely glad that you are back, kicking ass and taking names. There are just a few posters who make the place and you are on the short list.

I accept the moderators' proposal in its entirety. Personally, I don't need to worry about the rules, because I never flame anyone, and no one ever flames me. Heck, I can live with Tayken and Josey Wales, they show flashes of sense of humor often enough for me to acknowledge that they have redeeming social value.
