Moderators these posts do not at all reflect someone in here to debate, in fact they do just the opposite. He is intent on nothing but assaulting others and being disruptive. Despite pleas by others to stop the nonsense, he refuses and continues to lash out incessantly.

Maria on the thread entitled; My Little Sis, which garnered much empathy from other posters in this forum for a young woman who suffered much abuse from her family.:

She was abused by her parents so severly she was taken away @9 (molestation). I have been her Big Sis for 5 years ( i was in grad school when I met her). We have been working on her self esteem. She is doing great. I asked her to write a poem about her mom. She wrote this. I am so proud of her. she's 14 now and still living in a group home because people don't want to adopt her as they say "she's too much baggage."( which is such BULLSHIT). I am very close to her and if I could adopt her (i have 3 kids and they won't let me, but she stays with me 4 days a week and knows I love her so much- she really is a light in my life. I love her so much). She stays at my house3-4 nights a week which is more than I am supposed to do, but I let her anyway as she needs comfort, so through the home they allow me so I let her. she is an angel. She brought me this tonight and I was so proud of her. She's sleeping behind me, because she sleeps better with the TV on. Sweet little girl. This is her memory of her mother- it broke my heart, I love that girl:

I hope you didn't hurt her fragile self esteem more by freaking out. A mature person and a mentor would have posted her poem and then when there wasn immediate response..they would have explained that these things take time. That when people here read something as deep and involved as her poem, they need time to let it sink in before they comment on it.

I fear your going ballistic most likely made her feel like her poem wasn't good enough to comment on (which is not the case, it is excellent). You have to think about what you do before you do it sometimes.

Ill--- Honestly. I logged in this morning between showering and ironing. I saw the description of the "lil sis" and the poem. I was just about to comment on its depth...when I saw the freak out. Immediatly it hit me...what was that poor girl thinking watching her mentor loose her mind because people hadn't made a comment yet? I bet she felt like her poem wasn't good enough (which it was).

I won't drag this out, but Maria could have done a way better job of handling the situation and sheilding her little sis from the possibility of rejection or apathy. Plus, I think it showed poor judgement all together posting the poem right in front of her without testing the waters first. What would have happened had someone come in and trashed it to be an asshole.

It could have had devistating effects on the child.

In every aspect, this was not a well thought out action, almost reckless.

The Big Sister is a childish gimp that is damn liucky she hasn't done anything stupid enough to harm the girls ego worse than it already has been by the rigors of her life.

And BTW- If Maria is dumb enough to bring a 14 year old girl here knowing what conversations get like, that isn't my fault.

There are 1,000's of places on the net and in communities where this girl's poems can be posted, critiqued and praised. Where people are there for the sole purpose of incubating new and emerging talents, etc.

Maria is a goofball for trying to do it here...and then coming apart at the seams when it didn't go as planned. (heck, she only waited and hour before she poppped her cork).

It was a poor display, you should admit that and move on. If she was bent on sharing it here, which I can kinda see, then she should have planned better...posted with a little more ease...and had a few of here friends drop by and make a few comments, etc.

She took a huge risk posting the poem on this type of forum to begin with, with the girl sitting there, getting her hopes up about getting positive feedback and response.

Do you not think that young kids read panic in their adult mentors? Do you not think that there would be a better way to handle the situation? Play it off a bit, see who responds, maybe if need be PM a pal or two to ask if they would get the ball rolling etc.?

I am not harping on this to be mean, trust me. I am giving my two cents. And I think it is an important message. We aren't talking about a houseplant here. We are talking about an impressionable, trusting, young girl that can't afford to many more blows to the ego.

Like I said, he argued with my a while back when I called him on a HUGE red quote from Bush he posted. It wasn't a real quote, just a compilation of things Bush said, things he has been blamed of, and general concepts that the left attacks him for". Now, I believe most of what the quote embodied in spirit, but I tried to explain to Joe, that putting quotes around things that aren't actual quotes is not the right thing to do.
