The forum has changed today

I notice a change on the board today. I know everyone else notices it also. It is atriibuted to one man(?). Take a good look at the posts he has made. Not one post that actually attacks a subject. Not one. He is playing a game. Prior to his return, his second coming so to speak, we had a semi peaceful posting experience. Sure, we still had our spats. But for the most part they were quickly let go. Now, with the return of this one man(?) we have nothing but disrutption. Attacks on threads that were going pretty well. Remember, this man(?) claimed the reason he started coming to these forums was to hone his so called writing skills. I don't think that is the reason any longer. The reason is to squelch debate, to leave this forum in a perpetual state of disruption. But hey, if that is the game he wishes to play we can either ignore it, freeze him out, or take part. I will see what happens.

I enjoyed the posts you did with Ingrid, and I have returned to the conclusion that you are for real, and are a sweet lady with class. This is my apology to you. Ingrid represented a side of me, just as F&BWC does. I am a writer, so I WRITE. Ingrid's thread, "God is Love" generated more anger than some of my F&BWC threads that were INTENDED to cause anger! What you posted on some of those threads was beautiful, and obviously came from your heart.

You'd be surprised what a nice person I am. This forum contains many threads from rabid right wingers, and always has, that condemn liberals has being America haters, and from lefties pretending to be liberals that hate Jews, and other types of things, that read as pure ugliness to me. So I came on here as a parody of that type of post. The JOKE was always to type well thought-out arguments, with long, articulate, complex sentence structure, but to be like a child with the "insult and profanity" type writing style.

It was like when Second City Television tried to lampoon "Laverne & Shirley." NO matter who absurd or stupid they tried to make it, it always just looked like the real show. Same with F&BWC. But that doesn't make "him" me. I am also an actor. That is, I play ROLES. I had a TV show at one time; I write for characters in both fiction and entertainment; in short, I don't feel I need mental help for portraying characters in any way, shape or form.

Ingrid was important to me. I was trying to make a very definite statement with that character, and "she" was very close to my heart. You doubted "who" she was, but you understood her message, and interacted honestly with "her." I appreciate that, and feel I came to know the "real" you. You are no actor. You're just you. And you're OK by me. I'll try and remember that in the future, I promise.

FABWC, I am very touched by your post and I think I understand now what you were trying to achieve, as Ingrid. But I have to admit that I kind of feel like the Jessica Lange character in Tootsie, though, in the movie, Tootsie, when she found out that Dorothy was really a man and she said, "I miss Dorothy" and the Dustin Hoffman character said, "Dorothy's still here. Yes, you and I did seem to have a meeting of the minds at one time and I missesd the relationship we had when we no longer were friends. It's fun on this board to feel that you're "among friends" and I felt that way about you. Then after that, I had to wrestle with Esbe, but since then he and I have become friends and he lookds past many things he disagrees with in me and I in him. That was a real shocker to me. Especially since he helped me to see some truths about "government" that I had never seen before or perhaps was too afraid to see. I kept thinking he would go back to hating me but he never did. I actually like Esbe now and I can learn to like you again too, FABWC. We can have some fun conversations on this board again and that makes it fun.

Thanks, Bert. I've learned from this board, that things are not quite as black & white as I thought they were. Yes, I love my country but I've now come to see that disagreeing with your government doesn't mean you don't still love your country. Plus, I think it is naive to not see some of the rather obvious things that are going on these days. We all have to be realistic and stand up for what we believe is true and it just isn't true that our government always has our best interests at heart. I now see that many things are about money and power and that's scary....

I guess the reason is that I still agree with many of them about many subjects, like abortion, tax cuts, etc., so we stil have much in common. Plus, many of them would undoubtedly say that, like me, they also are skeptical of our government....

Syd, at one time you and I got along pretty well. Then, I mistakenly thought you were part of Woody's multi-personalities, and I was real hateful to you. At that time, I did NOT believe you were really who you say you are, and if I had, I wouldn't have been so harsh.

I enjoyed the posts you did with Ingrid, and I have returned to the conclusion that you are for real, and are a sweet lady with class. This is my apology to you. I guess the reason is that I still agree with many of them about many subjects, like abortion, tax cuts, etc., so we stil have much in common. Plus, many of them would undoubtedly say that, like me, they also are skeptical of our government....

Well, quite frankly, I don't think there are many Conservatives here that want to hold their government accountable. Also, do you know why the Conservatives here COMPLETELY ignore the issue of the size of the deficit? I thought that used to be a tenent of the Republican's? I am not really looking for an explaination here, I just find it odd that no Conservatives, both here and those I meet face to face, will even speak of these things. Maybe this should be another thread...

As far as being "skeptical" about government, no, I think liberals are more inclined to be skeptical of our government than conservatives, from what I have seen. But I think more conservatives are waking up to this fact, that our government has ulterior motives when it comes to international affairs. We need to all keep a close watch on what's going on because I have a feeling it's going to get weirder and weirder as time goes by.

Part of not being a forum troll involves knowing when to walk away. 2/3 of Woody's posts today have been about me, but I am not going to answer any more of them. I wouldn't want to disrupt these important "issue based" discussions.

I just want everyone to know I'm glad to be back, and have been laughing my ass off over many of these "tribute" threads that clearly violate forum rules, and BLATANTLY at that.

As to your comment about being skeptical. I listen to right-wing radio. I won't lie about that. I find it interesting to hear the right's take on things. I seldom agree with anything they have to say and I spend most of the time rolling my eyes and yelling at the radio while I'm driving (people must think I'm a nutcase). Having said that, I find it hilarious that the same people who voted for Bush are now getting bent out of shape because of his apparent bending over backwards to illegals by pushing for guest worker passes. They are also finally getting angry over the people dying in Iraq. I have to laugh. What did they expect? That Bush would suddenly change. Hey, they voted the guy in. What do they have to complain about? I voted against him which gives ME a reason to gripe.

I just don't get these people. Isn't the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results?

Bush showed us exactly what he was made of during the first 4 years. They all voted for him and now they're crying because they don't like what he is trying to do. Tough! You get the leadership you deserve.

Maybe this complacent, fat, lazy, and ultimately shallow society that we have become deserves to be shook up by a horrendous leader such as Bush. When the fat and lazy finally get touched by Bush's policies and they feel the affect of his bad leadership, perhaps they'll get out of their SUVs, put down their Starbucks, get off their Blackberries and decide enough is enough.

Until then, we will be stuck with the Clintons and the Bushes. Yee-haw. Ain't America grand? Look at the schmucks who hold our highest office. Makes ya proud, don't it?

Yes, the elitists are running our country, that's for sure. I really wish we could get in some "normal" people who weren't brought up with silver spoons in their mouths, who can actually relate to the average American citizen and who are not working hand-in-hand with Corporate America.

Fred has an interesting thread concerning campaign finance law. Maybe, just maybe, if some of the ideas were implemented, may we could get that type of person.
