I'm thrilled today, Xmas 2004. I have received as a gift the audio book version of Arianna's latest book, Fanatics & Fools. I have a portable mp3 player, and I have grown fond of audio books which I listen to as I do my daily exercise walk. I have listened to Bill Clinton read his life story, and was very moved by it. These audio books take on more meaning when they are read by the authors themselves. I'm very much looking forward to hearing Arianna read her own writing. However, it will have to wait until I finish listening to Michael Crichton's "State of Fear."

Apparently this book was written before the 2004 election, and Arianna is putting forth the hope that the Democrats will be able to respond to the pathetic lack of compassion shown by the Republican leadership. Arianna is a very eloquent writer and a poised reader. I love what she has to say, unfortunately Kerry was never up to the task. He apparently was chosen by Democratic party insiders who had little feeling of understanding of what it would take to combat the evil that is Bush. In this first audio chapter, she does do a good job of describing much of what is wrong with Republicans. Unfortunately she has placed too much hope in the Democratic party which is nearly as intellectually shallow as the the Republicans. She is a lighthouse of idealism shining brightly standing over a stormy sea of mediocrity.
