I think you ought to create a "Left/Liberal" forum and "Right/Conservative" forum, in addition to the "Current Events" forum.

Many are put off by the "Bush is great" or the "Bush is Hitler" banter from one side or the other. Maybe having specific forums for those two sides will help alleviate much of the rancor.

As I'm sure you've noticed by now, the regular people posting to this site can get very abusive toward one side or the other.

I'm not sure we want to break up the group like that... after all, it's the fireworks of different opinions and the passion that people bring that make any discussion/debate worth having at all. :)

I was thinking about trying to focus the sections a little bit more based on topics. Maybe one section for international issues, one for US issues -- but every time I start to think about it, I get bogged down when I realize that international issues are US issues. vice-versa, etc... :?

Maybe we can have an Iraq section. What are some thoughts on that? Or should it be middle East? Oh -- here comes that bogged down feeling again. :roll:

I'm not suggesting you break it apart, but just provide areas where the respective groups have reign without petty bickering from the opposition.

That's not to say you shutdown the common area, but just provide an area where people can discuss issues important to their side without the "other side" back biting all the way.

I suppose to make it work, you'd need to make people pick a side, which many would not do.

Implimenting any specialized posting area can be difficult, so I do empathize with our tasks.
