concern a few weeks ago, when I related that my wife was anticipating surgery...

It occurred last week...it was successful...she's home (and I'm the caregiver  ) I thank you for the expressions of concern.

Mike, I was unaware as well. Best get well wishes to your wife. Please also take good care of the caregiver. I know well how caregiving for even short time periods can be so stressful. It's vital.

Glad to hear the good news (even though I never heard the bad news first). Good luck with the caregiving.

Will you be taking advantage of the Democratic Party's Family Leave Act legislation, passed by Clinton in 1993 after years of Republican resistance, to ensure your job is safe during this period?

(Sorry -- couldn't resist. Well -- it is a political discussion board!)

I hope both of you have a nice, happy and wonderfull life for as much time as you want to have (OK,.. Eternity is not an option, but it's possible to do more than that with hope and will. I know you have both).

Same here, Mike. The best caregivers get the lotion out and give really good foot rubs, Mister. Get going--you should have very strong fingers after all the stuff you post here!

I wasn't trolling for sympathy, but to all of you who responded...as they say in Spain...

MUCH GRASS

I appreciate it. For those of you who've done it...emptying abdominal drains is the pits...

It gets easier. And it's very rewarding to see the improvement from day to day.

Best wishes to you both for a speedy and uncomplicated recovery.

I can relate to the abdominal drain, just make sure you wipe the opening so it doesn't drip.
