Yes, we desperately need a changing of the kingmakers....the clashing and confused bunch of Shrum/Devine et al ,who hav e mis-read and bungled this election shamefully. As a lifelong politically active Democrat, I am furious about many things that were and weren't done. For starters, I was deluged with the same pieces of direct mail and requests for money continually, along with dull form letters from DLC,DNC,DSCC,Carville, and everyone imaginable. Contacting thru message/blog was impossible, so there was no feedack. There was no clear message, and deciding on Vietnam was a huge mistake, compounded when not responding to quickboat smears(which they should have seen coming, but didn't).Compare demo convention to GOP putting Bush on round area surrounded by people ,and the effect of availability and idolatry this accomplished for Bush......a little like Leni R.....awesome and frightening.......but effective propoganda. Photo-ops of Kerry were amateurish and gut-wrong. The baby blue hood making him look silly, the windsurfing wonk in flowered long/shorts, the absurd hunting costume to prove his regular guyedness.......and the boring, badly produced TV that never framed or themed or memed a single memorable slogn or Idea. Clinton felt our pain--he was The Man From Hope...crafted by advertising pros....not the DC hacks who didn't even select correct media buys. And, as you well point out...too many cooks and no master chef. The Democratic Party must clean house and decide where it is and where it's going. Party needs real energy, discipline, and true leadership embolded by passion and real ideas that can be delivered on all levels of concern; Morality, Economy, Healthcare,Available Drugs, and more as you point out. Thank you for your salient and probing article, and I hope that the shakeup and shakeout of hack crony pols in Democratic party can be ASAP. Their sense of denial and whining is an embarassment.

Couldn't agree more. I am for Donna Brazile to head the DNC. We need somebody who can lift the Democrat Party up and not wallow or draft on the Republican's coat tails.
New kingmakers? No, we need new kings. Republicans and democrats alike need to bring members forward that you can feel good about voting for. I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. It's really sad to think that Bush and Kerry were the best this country had to offer.

It all comes down to the media in these things and thats been a problem lately. If you watch a lot of these shows, whenever a Republican is attacked he will raise a stink and refuse to come back on. It's a strange happening and I think it's insulting that these guys think they are above answering honest questions. Who pays their slaraies to begin with.
The media has completely been trampled under foot.
That has helped Bush enormously.
It would be nce if Kerry didnt allow Bush to frame the debate though. I don't know what he was waiting for after he won the nomination and they started attacking him. THis had to be one of the dirtiest campaigns in history. THe swift Boat ads trump Willie Horton by a mile.
Throw in the voter fraud and you have an interesting situation though. All extra votes have mysteriously gone to Bush.

Despite what you think, the majority of americans disagreed that Kerry was the better choice unless <insert pet conspiracy theory here>. If Kerry were as you claimed, he'd be headed for the Whitehouse now, not Bush. I don't care for Bush, so that tells me something about Kerry.
Don't blame the media. Blame the man. The media has been and likely will continue to be liberally biased, unless you think Fox News is bigger than CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS put together. The media maintained its largely liberal bias throughout the election (how could you forget Dan Rather?).

I thought it was the liberals that wore the tin foil hats.
The only basis you have for liberal media bias is Dan Rather? As long as you can keep throwing that one name out there I guess you think it accounts for everyone else. I don't think your that bright.
Exhibit A.
NBC is NOT a liberal news outlet!!!
CNN and MSNBC are both guilty of trying to outfox FOX.
I have a few names for you also. Bill Oreilly (He's one of yours and the guy lies a mile a minute. Dan Rather admits when he's wrong, Oreilly doesnt).
Wolf Blitzer and Robert Novak. THey are NOT liberals
Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanaan, working post debate coverage on MSNBC. No Liberal or democratic representation. BTW Scarborough has gotten busted in much bigger whoppers than Dan Rather has. HUGE WHOPPERS!!!!
