Should Islander show his support for the troops by joing the military as a nurse?

No!!

I believe the people who supported bush's re-election have a moral obligation to do EVERYTHING in their power to see bush's policies are successful.

Supporting the troops; either by enlisting & fighting in Iraq or at least making sure OTHER bush supporters fill the ranks so bush isn't forced to break his promise of NOT reinstating the draft.

bush's failures will reflect poorly on the people who put their loyal trust in his abilities.

And visa-versa.

Woody is a big pussy and he knows it.

I started this debate on another thread so he started another one SO HE COULD PICK MY POSITION. Not only is he a coward but he is a bug pussy.

I think he knows that.

I've always said that conservatives can't argue on a level playing field. Woody just proved my point.

Thanks Woody for being the dumb fuck you've always been. No one can take that away from you.

Go enlist pussy boy.

The requirement should be all Bush supporters under a certain age must join up. They can ride around in an unarmed humvee.

Especially the arrogant evangelical who believe they know God loves killing should have their stint!!!

Woody, I try to look for your responses to be somewhat fair and somewhat measured, it seems like in the last few months you have lost that ability. Why should Islander volunteer for the military any more than you should or I should? OK, I'm not always able to keep up with this board, but nothing I've read would (so far) support that question. It is a personal choice, just as joining the military is a personal choice. I think we all should be happy that we can make those choices. Freedom and democracy are about choice, maybe more so than bootstraps. Damn those liberal programs that try to educate people.

Your guy won, why are you so bitter and antgonistic????

OK Woody, I confess, I forgot about your service, I'm bad. However, if you are so inclined, you can still go to Iraq as a private contractor (send your resume to Hallibuton) and make buckets of $$$. And support the troops from a very close locale. It is a choice.

Grace, do you think it might be that all these heros around hear that would not give a second of their time call the ones that have cowards. I don't know about the others, but that tell me a lot about them. Was it not a democrat that said, Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country? Boy ain't that a joke in this day of the demoratic party.

good question.I antagonized this debate and I am not ashamed of doing so.

These people support this war.

They voted for Bush.

Yet they will not go.

It never ceases to amaze me that we've never had this deate in this country and these people are running away from it. We now have excuse-making on their part as to why they shouldnt go. "I have laready served my time" just doesnt cut it.

It's a cheap way out especially when they are sending others to fight for a cause that they are well trained to fight in. THEY BELIEVE IN IT.

But that's what it is.
Excuses.

It doesnt stop them from sending others to die in causes that they believe in. It's hypocritical.

Nothing is stopping these people from going.

Fired up over explosives remark
Re "Retired general revs group," article, Oct. 30:

So the general who had the responsibility to plan the war in Iraq now says, "Anyone who wants to go in there and just get it done and not lose 370 RDX is crazy, crazy." While it is difficult to know for sure what was meant by such a statement, it would seem to refer to the 370 tons of explosives now reported missing. Whatever was meant, the statement is an insult to any intelligent American and typical of the planning, or the lack thereof, in this messy little war. Why would we not want to ensure that that amount of ammo could not be used against us? Is there anyone in today's Army, or military, who fails to see the danger in leaving tons of ammo unguarded and available for use by the enemy?

Is it just possible that the urge to "topple Saddam" by rushing to Baghdad and ignoring this site caused this mess? How many U.S. service members have already been killed by this blunder? How many will be killed or maimed in the future because of this mistake? Eight Marines were killed by a car bomb Oct. 30, and nine were wounded. Can the general tell their loved ones that they are crazy to think it might have been avoided?

I not only am crazy, I'm mad, angry, sad and disgusted with the lies and lame excuses for the quagmire that has been caused by a lack of common sense and good planning. The life of one American was too much to pay for such a faulty mess, and they continue to be killed.
Did the general not learn anything from Vietnam?

Yes, I am crazy. I am crazy enough to want to see the day when young Americans go to war only when absolutely necessary and well led, with allies and with plans made by real soldiers, not chicken hawks.

I really don’t understand why you “marines” are such bitches. After all, isn’t a part of what your fight is about is my right to think and speak for myself, even if you don’t agree. A freedom born by the American people will not be taken away by a bully, no matter where that bully comes from.
The Marines need to teach you some respect in boot camp. Gomer Pyle had a much better attitude than Sarge did! (Probably lower blood pressure too!) Maybe you all need a refresher course.

On this day I salute all people who have fought for American rights and our constitution, whether they be in uniform or on the sidelines struggling to save our republic and democracy…. including my father (Army/England), my Uncle Louie (Marines/Iwo Jima), Uncle Steve (Army/Germany), Uncle Rudy ( Army/died in the invasion of Italy as a paratrooper), Uncle Emil, (Army/Aleutians) Uncle Bill, (mom doesn’t remember where he was), Uncle Joe (Army/medic), and Aunt Margaret( Army/nursing assistant), and the best step father on the planet, Thurman who, served on the Maryland and the Shangrila. Had to get a sailor in there.

FYI, I have tried to edit this carefully because BB will toast my toe (kinda kinky)s for every error (miss the message, but find the typos, fragments etc…), if there are any errors don’t tell me, bitch at Sarge!

Wishin, we all see patriotism in our own light. I do not disregard your thoughts, much as I want the same freedom to think for myself. I may not see patriotism in the same light as you do. Isn't that what being an American is all about? Freedom and democracy, how can we have either when one of us (either one) tries to supress the other thoughts through whatever measures?

I'd like to think that fairness is also an American virtue/religion/moral ethic.

You are right Grace. That is what being an American is all about. We are alot alike in one way. We don't set back and let people jam their way of thinking down our throat.

Have a nice night, and I respect your thinking.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! WOODY!!! Have you ever read the garbage he writes and passes off as medical fact??????????

NO ONE deserves that kind of help!! Least of all our troops!

This guy is an idiot and I seriously doubt if he got beyond how to empty a bed pan in any kind of school!

In my opinion, this is one of THOSE people we want to keep out of the military at all costs. He's the kind I fear if we ever had a draft. (shudder!)
