Unintentional smiley faces

Apparently typing "8" with a close parentheses immediately after produces a smiley face. Like "8)" (I typed "8" and ")" together; you see the result.

Must be a bug somewhere...

No bug - that face ( 8) ) is a common smiley, like :) and :(

If you're posting something with a numbered list, click "Disable Smilies in this post" - your problem will disappear like an Iraqi nuclear warhead.

Just put a space between the "8" and the ")" if you run into this situation again. I know, it offends my grammatical intuition, too, but it is a loophole, and who sez that the greedy cReeps have some exclusive right to loopholes?
